CNC Controller Guide: PERFORMANCE and Built-In Reliability by LUQUE Machines
At LUQUE Machines, we know that the heart of a high-performance CNC milling machine lies in its numerical control system. Integrating a CNC controller is not done at random: it depends strictly on your application requirements, the complexity of your machining operations, and your working environment.
Thanks to our extensive field experience, valuable customer feedback, and rigorous reliability calculations over the entire service life of our equipment, we have selected the most robust technologies on the market. Whether you choose a Weihong, SYNTEC, or LNC system, you benefit from an ultra-reliable solution, perfectly integrated by our engineers.
3-Axis and 4-Axis Machining
Fully integrated industrial console
For 3- and 4-axis configurations, LUQUE Machines recommends the industry leader Weihong and its ultra-reliable NK280 console to ensure perfect repeatability and maximum service life.
For demanding industrial environments where dust, splashes, and intensive use are part of everyday operations, we recommend using a dedicated control console.
Available models: Weihong NK280 3 Axis / NK280 4 Axis (with RTCP option).
Benefits: This “all-in-one” system eliminates risks associated with consumer operating systems. With absolute hardware reliability, these consoles are designed for productivity. The interface is intuitive, and the physical keyboard is built to withstand production workshops.
Ideal for: Woodworking, plastics, or aluminum-processing manufacturers looking for a machine tool ready to produce 24/7.

Solution 1.2: Flexible Commercial PC Architecture (Weihong 95A range)
If you are looking for the versatility of a computer combined with the rigor of industrial machining, LUQUE Machines offers the 95A series. It simply requires a computer with a free PCI slot.
Available models: 95A-ATC (3 & 4 axes, RTCP optional) and 95A-NON-ATC (3 & 4 axes).
Benefits: This system offers unmatched flexibility. Unlike entry-level solutions such as Mach3 (which relies on unstable software calculations and which we formally advise against – find out why in our dedicated article: Why LUQUE Machines does not use Mach3), the Weihong 95A range uses a dedicated, specialized axis card. This hardware architecture processes toolpath calculations in real time, avoiding micro-bugs and unexpected stops during machining.
Ideal for: Versatile workshops that want to run their CNC control while retaining access to their workshop software.
To push computing performance even further without compromising software robustness, LUQUE Machines integrates dedicated industrial PCs.
Available models: Weihong NC60C ATC (3 & 4 axes, RTCP optional) and LNC MW2200 3 Axis ATC.
Benefits: The LNC MW2200 model is an ultra-popular standard, widely recognized on the market for its stability with automatic tool changers (ATC). Combined with Weihong’s NC60C series, these industrial-PC-based controllers deliver much faster toolpath calculation speeds. The hardware is designed to dissipate heat efficiently and withstand vibration.
Ideal for: Complex high-speed 3D machining requiring perfect toolpath smoothing.
For lighter-duty structures, LUQUE Machines integrates ergonomic portable solutions.
Available models: NK105 G3 ATC (3 or 4 axes) with a 3 m or 10 m cable.
Benefits: Often referred to as a DSP controller or standalone remote control, this system is extremely cost-effective and very easy to use. It is ideal for operators who do not master complex programming. It is an ultra-reliable choice that is not subject to PC-type computer bugs.
Ideal for: Independent craftspeople, makers, or beginners looking for the efficiency of an automatic tool changer without the complexity of a large industrial console.

Simultaneous 5-Axis Machining – High Precision and RTCP
Simultaneous 5-axis machining requires perfect motion synchronization. For these high-end applications, LUQUE Machines masters the integration of the two best global technologies: SYNTEC and Weihong. On these machines, RTCP (Rotation Tool Center Point) management is essential to automatically recalculate the position of the tool tip based on the inclinations of the rotary axes.
Solution 2.1: The Market Benchmark (SYNTEC 610MA-E5)
Benefits: The SYNTEC 610MA-E5 system is the most widely used and proven 5-axis controller on the market. Its reputation is well established: exceptionally stable, it manages 5-axis kinematics with outstanding smoothness. Its RTCP management is surgically precise, ensuring impeccable surface finishes.
Ideal for: Industrial production of complex parts, prototyping of freeform shapes, and mold makers.

Weihong also offers complete ecosystems for simultaneous 5-axis machining, known to be among the most reliable CNC systems in the world.
Available models: * NK300: All-in-one control console type (6 axes including 5 simultaneous, RTCP). The choice for absolute workshop robustness.
Ideal for: Companies seeking consistent hardware integration and long-term reliability calculated over thousands of production hours.

Solutions for Drawing and Design Directly on the Console
Some workshops need to modify a drawing or design a simple part directly at the machine, without going back through the design office.
Dedicated solution: Weihong 95A (simultaneous 5 axes, Commercial PC version)
Benefits: Thanks to its architecture based on a commercial PC equipped with a dedicated axis card, this version of the Weihong 95A system allows you to install any CAD/drafting software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Vectric, etc.) directly on the machine’s control station. You benefit from the computer’s graphics power to design and modify your drawings in real time, while also benefiting from the reliability of the Weihong card for executing G-code without any risk of crashing.
Ideal for: Rapid prototyping workshops and machinists seeking complete autonomy at the console.
Specific Solutions for Oscillating Knife Cutting and Optical Recognition
For composite, packaging, or upholstery industries, using milling cutters is no longer sufficient. Cutting tools must be added, as well as cameras for locating print registration marks.
Please note: Although Weihong’s website offers CAD/CAM software, it is exclusively dedicated to laser. This is why LUQUE Machines selects and integrates controllers with CAM units natively integrated at the core of the system (similar to MDRCNC technologies).
Solutions integrated by LUQUE Machines:
Weihong NC68E (3 axes & CCD camera): With optional knife head. This system includes its own CAM module to perfectly manage the orientation of the oscillating knife relative to the path, as well as optical correction via the CCD camera.
Benefits: You do not need to multiply complex third-party software. The controller autonomously manages nesting, blade diameter compensation, and camera-based registration for precise cutting of printed materials (cardboard, foam, leather, rubber gaskets).
